Mr. Guan joined Surge Energy in December 2018 and became the Chief Executive Officer in May 2019. He has 25+ years of experience in the petroleum industry, most recently serving as Chairman of Star Energy International Corporation (SEIC). Prior to SEIC, Mr. Guan spent almost 10 years with Statoil holding various roles including President of Statoil Technology Services Ltd in Beijing, Global Strategy Manager in London, and Business Development Project Manager in Stavanger. He began his career in the industry as a Geologist for CNPC in China and later worked as a Reservoir Engineer for Chevron in Houston. Mr. Guan received a BE degree in Petrophysics and an MS degree in Geology from China Petroleum University. He also received an MS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA degree from Rice University.
